Is it safe to mix skin care/ make up brands ?

I recently bought some Clarins skin care, and they were out of the Flash product for the eyes, so the girl told me to get Estee Lauder, another comparable product for the eyes.
My sister insists that I shouldnt mix the two brands, bc of the different components in each.. What do you think, what has been your experience? is it safe? I am used to mixing everything, ( and am not talking make up- skin care), like clinique, Olay, and hydroderm..
Please share your experience.. Thanks : )

  1. its definatley safe to mix
im a cosmestician and when we go to the schools to learna about the products they always tell you to tell customers they must buy within the brand because the products work together (they just want all of your money, not just a portion though). sometimes its true that the ingredients work together but within the line they have sublines and the main ingriednts differe within these sublines
so in short, no its not a big deal at all

  2. I work in the beauty industry, I can tell you its often just marketing to get you to buy the matching product, so the company gets more money.

I do hair and makeup and also work at a Spa and would never hesitate to mix products on myself or a client. And the same goes for my facial skin care regime. Don’t spend more money just to get the matching products… you’ll be fine! :)

  3. I have sensitive AND acne prone skin (which is actually doing just fine thank goodness!) and I mix almost anything so suit my skin type. And my skin has never been better! So feel free to try whatever! =)
